Our plans for the CPM Thame 10K are advancing well. We’re planning to circulate a flyer to all parents after half-term asking for volunteers. The event takes place on 29th June, and we’re hoping to encourage 25 people to run for the Building Fund. If we each raise £200 through sponsorship, then in total we could generate funds of £5,000 (which is five per cent of our total target).
The flyer is prepared, as are the sponsorship forms. We’re also planning to commission some T-shirts with our logo so that people know what we’re running for.
At the moment, I’m just in the early stages of my training (a long time since I did any real exercise!). Thankfully, the invention of the iPod has ensures that the right choice of music keeps me going just about long enough. My current ‘running’ playlist is:
- Seven Nation Army, by The White Stripes
- Lust for Life, by Iggy Pop
- On the Road Again, by Canned Heat
- Chasing Cars, by Snow Patrol
- Hard to Handle, by Otis Redding
- Everyday I Love you Less and Less, by The Kaiser Chiefs
- A Minha Menina, by The Bees
And that’s about as far as I can run at the moment…
The other cool thing I’ve discovered is the ability to create your own maps on Google Maps (just click on the MyMaps tab). You can zoom right in, then use the tools to draw a route – and it will tell you exactly how long it is. Hopefully it’s accurate…
